The Impact of Pests
We have pests. Is it my fault?

Finding pests in your home or place of work can be an incredibly stressful experience but it isn’t your fault nor isn’t anything to be ashamed of. When you first notice or suspect pests, call us so that we can put your mind at ease and find a solution for your pest problems as quickly as possible.

Should I just clean up?

Unfortunately, pests can make themselves comfortable in the cleanest of homes and although cleaning (hoovering mattresses for example) can help remove some pests, it is not a solution, and if you have a real problem with pests in your home or workplace you will need the help of a professional.

Will pests go away on their own?

Once pests have made themselves comfortable, it is very unlikely that they will leave of their own accord. It is much more likely that pests will breed and you will find increasing numbers of pest sightings and problems in your home or workplace. It is important that you contact us as soon as you notice any signs of pests, or if you haven’t had a pest inspection in the last 12 months, so that we can remove pests that you may not even be able to see despite their ability to risk your health, your home and your business reputation.

Can I use my own traps or other treatments?

Some of these solutions will be suitable for you to use to address your immediate pest control challenges. However, these solutions will not address severe problems with pests, nor will they provide long term solutions so you will find yourself having to use them constantly to stay in control of your pest problems.

Do I have any responsibilities as a business owner?

Whether a homeowner, a landowner or a business owner, you have legal responsibilities associated with pests and pest control. At JL Pest Control we are well versed in the latest laws and legislations so can help you understand your responsibilities and solve your pest problems accordingly.

Will it affect my neighbours?

Depending on the source and severity of your pest problems, you may find that your neighbours also need some assistance to control their pests. However, at JL Pest Control, we realise that you may want to keep your pest problems private and as such, have discreetly branded vans and a professional service that takes your privacy seriously.

Are there health risks attached to pests?

Some pests can spread disease whilst others cause skin irritation. Most bring risk of allergic reaction and knowing that you have a pest problem can be incredibly distressing.

Treatment
How should I prepare my home for treatment?

All pets should be removed from your home and all unwrapped or exposed food should be stored in cupboards or the fridge. It is important for electrical equipment to be covered and you should not enter rooms where treatment has taken place for a minimum of 3 hours.

Will treatment leave stains in my home?

Treatments do not leave stains but you may find a white residue that can easily be wiped from furniture, flooring and carpets.

If my pet should gain access to any form of bait what should I do?

If your pets come in contact with bait or treatment of any form, you should take them to the vet immediately.

Is the treatment harmful to pets and children?

Some of the treatments we use can be harmful to pets and children. It is advisable for pets and children to remain away from the property during the treatment and for a minimum of 3 hours afterwards.
